THE TEAM:

DAVID RON

David Ron is a veteran of the Medical Technology Industry, with a specialty in marketing and sales. David’s experience places him as a leading authority on technology and marketing in a variety of medical fields.

David has thirty years of experience in the Medical Technology field, acquired first as an employee of one of the major representatives in Israel, and later as the founder, owner and General Manager of a distribution company, GAL RON MEDICAL EQUIPMENT LTD. Under David’s management, Gal Ron became one of the leading Israeli distribution companies in Ophthalmology and Endoscopy, covering Laparoscopy of General Surgery, Hysteroscopy in Gynecology, Cystoscopy in Urology, Sinuscopy in E.N.T., Arthroscopy in Orthopedics and Thoracoscopy in Thoracic Surgery. In addition, David has specialized in Pacing and Electrophysiology, Ultrasound imaging, various implantable devices, navigational systems for Neurosurgery and more. Among David’s major achievements is the introduction of Cochlear implants for the hearing impaired. David founded Gal Ron Medical Equipment in 1983 and eventually sold the company in 1997.

Since 1997 David has been active as a consultant and marketing advisor to start-up companies and various investors, including venture capital funds. One of his foremost activities is efficacy evaluations for both new and established technologies in the medical field. Another of David’s major assets is the extensive contacts, which he has developed with the respective market leaders, in both the National and the International arena. These contacts now serve as a major resource for his clients in a broad spectrum of medical fields.

David is a Mechanical Engineer and he is a graduate of the Advanced Management program from the Open University in Tel Aviv.

RUTH ROBINSON

Ruth Robinson is a professional Export Manager and specialist in international marketing of medical and health care related products, mainly in the category of disposables and consumables. Her primary speciality is wound care, surgical dressings and bandages.

Ruth has thirty years of experience in international marketing, acquired partly as an employee of a leading manufacturer of surgical dressings and bandages, and later as the founder, owner and General Manager of an active Export Company. Her company, Robinson Medical Marketing Services, offers professional services, which are tailor-made to the needs of the companies served. Ruth facilitates the appropriate contacts for her client companies in leading international markets, as appropriate for each client and in accordance with their product positioning and market segmentation.

Since 1992, Ruth has also been active as a marketing consultant with a strong engagement in start-up projects. Her experience and reputation have placed her among the most sought-after consultants in her field. Her advice is sought by both the public sector and private enterprise.

Ruth is engaged in a wide scope of consulting activities, including project evaluation, market analysis, assessment of marketing potential in international markets and definition of export marketing strategies. Additional contributions include product development, sourcing of materials, contacts with regulatory service providers and sources of venture capital for investment in medical projects.

Ruth is a graduate of the Recanati Business School at the Tel Aviv University in Export Management and International Trade.

DAN GELVAN, PH.D.

Dan Gelvan is a specialist in Medical Devices, with expertise in Application Development, Product Development, Clinical Trials, Education, Marketing, Funding, and Strategic Planning.

Dan is a veteran of the Medical Device Industry, having held a variety of positions with Medtronic, the world's leading medical device company, spanning a period of 24 years, and has most recently held positions in Concord Ventures, one of the leading Israeli Venture Capital Funds, and Remon Medical Technologies, a medical device start-up company.

At Medtronic, Dan held the position of Regional Manager for the Technology, Research and Education Center, covering Eastern Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean, the Gulf area and Africa. His responsibilities included the search for and evaluation of new technologies, management of clinical studies, development and management of employee training and customer education. He was previously Pacing Supervisor in Medtronic Israel and Country Manager for Medtronic in Iran.
At Concord Ventures, Dan was Medical Associate, and held responsibilities for evaluating and researching medical projects, participating in investment decisions and in policy formation for portfolio companies. Dan maintains an active position with Concord as Medical Advisor, involved with the ongoing evaluation of medical projects.
At Remon Medical Technologies Dan was Application Development Manager, with responsibilities for application development, market research, physicians relations, and has been involved in product definition and in the development of the Company’s executive summary, business plan, company presentations, and business models.

Dan holds a B.Sc. in Biology from Tel-Aviv University, a M.Sc. in Human Nutrition from the University of London, and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He was a Post-Doctoral fellow at the University of California in San Diego and at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, specializing in the biochemical aspects of human disease and physiology. Dan was Lecturer in Nutrition and Biochemistry at the University of California San Diego for five years, and holds an ongoing appointment as external Lecturer in Human Nutrition and Physiology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
